We are extremely proud to be from North Wales. We think we are in a great location to enjoy some of the best food and drink suppliers, all right here on our doorstep. Where we can we try and buy from local, independent companies. Our mantra is fresh is best.
You will not get much fresher than Wrexham Lager. Brewed exactly 300 yards away from us, the brewery came back into fruition in 2010 under the excellent stewardship of the Jones family. The lager has gone from strength to strength and is certainly the pride of the town. We are delighted to have stocked Wrexham in both of our pubs since we have opened. (www.wrexhamlager.co.uk).
Only a few more beer miles away from our door is Big Hand brewery. Started in 2013 by Dave and Andy, the uncle and nephew team have created quite the reputation for creating, quality, consistent beer which is all very drinkable. We were delighted to make the CAMRA good beer guide for 2020 and Big Hands quality ale has helped us achieve this. (www.bighandbrewing.co.uk).
A little further across the border you will find our butcher Dave Joinson, based in Chester (we don’t hold that against him) Dave has been our main butcher supplier since we first opened in Yr Wyddgrug 5 years ago. A traditional butcher who lets his meat do the talking. Welsh Steak and award-winning sausages are just two of his products to look out for. (www.davidjoinsonbutchershop.co.uk).
Travelling in the opposite direction you will find Shane at Stonehouse Brewery. Shane has come a long way since he pitched up at former hotel, The Cross Lanes and sold beer to Rich out of the back of his van having just set up. Rich arguably had to but were not going to tell him that! If you ever get a chance go and visit the brewery in Oswestry, it is a cracking experience. (www.stonehousebrewery.co.uk).
That’s just beer and meat! We also have an extensive list of welsh Gins available to enjoy:
